Jio was the fastest mobile provider in India during 2H 2024, across all technologies combined, and also specifically for 5G. It recorded a median 5G download speed of 258.54 Mbps, and an upload speed of 14.54 Mbps.
Airtel offered the best quality of experience
Airtel offered the best video streaming experiences and 5G gaming in India during 2H 2024.

Excitel was the fastest ISP in India during 2H 2024 with a median download speed of 117.21 Mbps, and a median upload speed of 110.96 Mbps.

Jio was the fastest mobile provider in India during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data for all technologies combined, with a Speed Score of 174.89. Jio led on median download speed, recording 158.63 Mbps, ahead of next placed Airtel, which recorded 100.67 Mbps, and Vi India with 21.60 Mbps. Jio recorded a median upload speed of 8.93 Mbps, and a latency of 62 ms.

Fastest 5G Network
Jio was the fastest 5G provider in India during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data, with a Speed Score of 213.27. Jio led on median 5G download speed, recording 258.54 Mbps, ahead of next placed Airtel, which recorded 205.1 Mbps. Jio recorded a median 5G upload speed of 14.54 Mbps, and a latency over 5G of 55 ms.

Most Consistent Network
There was no winner of best mobile network Consistency in India during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data, with no statistical difference between the mobile providers. Airtel recorded the best 5G Consistency in the market, with 79.8% of samples meeting or exceeding the threshold of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload speeds.
Ookla’s methodology for most Consistent network is determined by Consistency Score™, which reflects the percentage of samples that meet minimum thresholds for download and upload speeds, depending on the type of network. Best 5G Availability
Jio recorded the highest 5G Availability in India during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data, with 73.7% of its users accessing its 5G network a majority of the time.

Best Mobile Coverage
Jio’s mobile network extended farthest within the market, with a Coverage Score of 65.66 during the second half of 2024. Airtel followed with a score of 58.17.

Gaming Experience
Jio recorded the best mobile gaming experience in India, with a Game Score of 76.58. Airtel provided the best 5G gaming experience in the market, with a 5G Game Score of 80.17.

Jaipur had the fastest median mobile download speed among India’s most populous cities, recording 181.68 Mbps. Kolkata was second, followed by Ahmedabad in third. At the other end of the scale, Mumbai had the slowest median mobile download speed at 75.75 Mbps, followed by Pune and Chennai. Jio was the fastest provider across nine cities.

Excitel also led the market on median upload speed, with 110.96 Mbps, and recorded a latency of 13 ms.

City Performance
Bengaluru had the fastest median fixed download speed among India’s most populous cities, recording 90.2 Mbps. Delhi was second, followed by Chennai in third. At the other end of the scale, Surat had the slowest median fixed download speed at 50.21 Mbps, followed by Jaipur and Kolkata. Excitel was the fastest provider across four cities, followed by ACT in two.
